On 28 May 2026 Angola issued $1.5bn of new Eurobonds split into 2031 and 2037 maturities (priced at about 8.25% and 9.5%) and completed a roughly $750m partial buyback of its 2028/2029 bonds, extending the sovereign's debt profile and reducing near-term rollover needs.

By pushing debt into 2031 and 2037, Angola shifts repayment obligations out the curve and increases duration of its external debt. That lengthening transmits refinancing- and duration- risk to investors in African oil-exporters’ long ends (most directly other USD sovereigns like Nigeria), while easing near-term liquidity pressures for Luanda. Actual secondary-market repricing is conditional on investor demand and benchmark US rates.
