CBK reopens 15y and 20y Treasury bonds, targeting KSh50bn for budget support

On September 24, 2026 the Central Bank of Kenya reopened two long-dated Treasury bonds (FXD3/2019/015 and FXD1/2019/020), launching a multi-price auction that targets a combined KSh50 billion to finance budgetary support; bids close September 30, 2026 with settlement scheduled October 5, 2026.

Reopening long-dated domestic bonds increases near-term local currency supply at the long end of Kenya’s curve. Conditionally, strong domestic take-up could reduce immediate pressure on external financing plans and shift rollover risk onto the domestic yield curve; conversely weak demand would leave external funding needs unchanged and keep rollover concentrated in external markets.
