Ecobank Nigeria prepays ~$245m of $300m 2026 Eurobond; outstanding falls to ~$55.092m

On December 31, 2025 Ecobank Nigeria completed a tender that prepaid about $245m of its $300m 7.125% Senior Note due 16 February 2026, reducing the outstanding principal to approximately $55.092m; the remaining tranche still matures on 16 February 2026.

The large early tender removed most near-term external rollover risk for Ecobank Nigeria by cutting the Feb‑2026 maturity to a much smaller residual. That eases short‑end funding pressure for the bank and modestly reduces immediate sectoral refinancing needs, though other Nigerian banks still face their own upcoming external maturities. This does not imply market repricing of the residual note or wider sovereign curves without further evidence.

Monitor whether Ecobank offers another tender or repays the remaining ~$55.092m ahead of the 16 February 2026 maturity.
