By Oct. 19, 2026 markets priced a meaningful chance of a 25bp Federal Reserve hike at the Oct. 27–28 FOMC meeting, lifting expectations for higher US real yields that would raise discount rates and increase external funding costs for long-duration African eurobonds, notably Ghana and Zambia.

If the Fed tightens in late October, higher US nominal and real yields raise global discount rates and dollar funding costs, directly lowering present values of long-duration USD African bonds. Funding pressure would come via tighter USD liquidity and possible FX pass-through as local currencies adjust, increasing external financing costs for Ghana and Zambia.
