The desk brief
On October 13, 2026 the Bank of Ghana and FSD Africa signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement a Credit Market Development Programme in Ghana, launching a domestic-focused initiative to deepen credit markets and support the development of Ghana’s local financing architecture.
If implemented, the programme could broaden the cedi investor base, deepen domestic debt market liquidity and improve monetary-policy transmission. Those changes would alter the balance between domestic and external sovereign funding over time, but the MoU itself does not constitute immediate external (Eurobond) repricing or a near-term funding event.
Publication of the programme implementation plan or announcement of first pilot interventions by BOG/FSDA.
