IMF Executive Board approves $1.8bn for Egypt after seventh EFF and second RSF reviews

On 31 July 2026 the IMF Executive Board approved completion of Egypt’s seventh EFF review and second RSF review, enabling immediate access to about SDR 1.31bn (roughly $1.77bn) — SDR 1.11bn under the EFF and SDR 200m under the RSF, totaling about $1.8bn newly approved financing.

Board approval reduces a near-term external financing overhang by making additional IMF resources available to Egypt; the conditional liquidity relief depends on whether and how quickly authorities draw the SDR allotment and convert/allocate proceeds. Effects on Egypt’s sovereign Eurobond curve or banks and corporates will be transmitted via reserves, roll-over risk perception and market sentiment, not automatically by the IMF decision alone.

Whether authorities execute the immediate SDR draw and timing of any conversion into FX reserves.
