IMF: Egypt’s final EFF and RSF reviews due in Q4 2026, clearing path to ~$2.3bn disbursement

On 2 Oct 2026 the IMF said it expects to complete Egypt’s eighth and final EFF review and the third RSF review in Q4 2026, and that approval of those reviews would allow a conditional disbursement of about $2.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2026.

On 2 Oct 2026 the IMF said it expects to complete Egypt’s eighth and final EFF review and the third RSF review in Q4 2026, and that approval of those reviews would allow a conditional disbursement of about $2.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2026.

If completed and approved by the IMF, the conditional ~$2.3bn purchase would provide near-term external liquidity relief: it could bolster official reserves, reduce immediate rollover pressure on Egyptian Eurobonds, and support the EGP and market confidence. The effect depends on timing of disbursement and continued programme compliance; it does not guarantee spread compression or full refinancing of gross external needs.
