On 14 August 2026 the Kenyan Finance Ministry published a financing plan saying the government will seek to raise US$815 million via a Eurobond in Q2 of the 2026/27 fiscal year, formalising an announced external funding target alongside softer secondary-market yields.
A defined US$815m Eurobond target reduces uncertainty about Kenya's near-term external refinancing need and can lower the external refinancing premium if market appetite holds. Softer secondary yields—already reflected in recent trading—could tighten Kenya's USD curve and, conditionally, compress spreads for other East African sovereigns and corporates via benchmark repricing rather than by direct FX translation.
