Nigeria’s long-dated dollar bond yields rose above 8% on Sept. 16, 2026

On September 16, 2026 Nigeria’s long-dated dollar Eurobond yields rose, with the 8.25% $1.25bn 2051 bond yielding 8.312% (up from 8.156% on Aug. 31). DMO/Bloomberg data show multiple ultra‑long maturities moved above 8%, concentrating repricing at the long end of the curve.

Higher U.S. Treasury yields and a Fed policy move in mid‑September raised global dollar borrowing costs, transmitting via duration to press down long‑dated bond prices and lift yields on Nigeria’s ultra‑long maturities. If U.S. yields stabilise, some of the move could reverse; continued developed‑market tightening would sustain higher long‑end funding costs for Nigerian dollar debt.
