March and March schedules nationwide protests for 30 September 2026 in major South African cities

On 30 September 2026 the March and March movement announced a second nationwide day of mass action with marches planned in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and other centres. The mobilisation raises near-term risk of disruption to ports, road freight and corporate operations after prior June protests saw local disturbances.

If demonstrations on 30 September become large or include multi-day stoppages, short-term operational disruption at major ports and on key road freight corridors could interrupt export flows and corporate cash collection. That could create temporary stress for affected corporates and, if prolonged, pressure near-term sovereign cash flows and risk sentiment; outcomes depend on police containment, turnout and duration.
