Nigeria DMO allots N748.64bn at 16.79% and 16.85% in Sept 2026 FGN auction

On September 14, 2026 the Debt Management Office of Nigeria allotted a total of ₦748.64 billion across a new 10-year FGN Sep 2036 and a re-opened 15-year FGN Jun 2038, at marginal rates of 16.79% and 16.85% respectively following the auction.

The auction outcome fixed new primary-market reference yields for long-dated Nigerian sovereign paper, trimming some previously higher quoted yields for those tenors. That puts conditional pressure on domestic funding costs and on FX/corporate financing via higher benchmark borrowing rates: if secondary yields track these marginals, corporates reliant on domestic bonds or rollovers face higher coupon/discounting reference levels, and FX demand could rise if onshore rates fail to attract sufficient local savings.
