Nigeria long-dated Eurobond yields climb above 8% as September data show repricing

On September 16, 2026, DMO-sourced secondary-market data show Nigeria’s dollar Eurobond yields rose, with the longest-dated paper (Sep 2051) yielding about 8.312% and other 2046/2049 bonds moving above 8%, indicating a mid-September repricing higher in long maturities.

Higher U.S. Treasury yields and tighter global financial conditions have raised the benchmark for dollar borrowing, pushing investors to require higher returns on longer-dated Nigerian sovereign debt. If developed-market yields remain elevated, Nigeria’s long-end may stay under pressure, increasing refinancing costs and raising sovereign-linked corporate spread risk relative to shorter maturities.
