Seven core OPEC+ producers agree 188,000 bpd September hike; Nigeria not part of the move

On 2–3 August 2026 seven core OPEC+ members (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Oman) announced a collective production adjustment raising output by 188,000 barrels per day from September 2026; Nigeria was not part of the seven-member decision and therefore its production plans remain governed by the broader DoC and domestic factors.

The announcement restores an additional voluntary layer of supply for the seven participating producers but does not change Nigeria’s OPEC allocation or near-term production plan. Nigerian fiscal and FX receipts depend primarily on domestic output, pipeline security and theft mitigation; therefore this coordinated adjustment mainly alters global market supply signalling rather than removing Nigeria-specific operational and security risks to its oil revenues and credits.

Seven-member panel scheduled to meet on 6 September 2026 to review market conditions.
