South Africa sells R1bn of 2046 inflation‑linked bond at auction

On 13 September 2026 South Africa sold 1.0 billion rand of its 2046 inflation‑linked government bond at auction, providing a fresh long‑real reference for the domestic yield curve and adding long‑dated inflation‑linked supply to the market.

The auction establishes a new long‑dated real‑yield reference that will influence long real yields, the domestic swap curve and funding costs for long‑dated corporates and pension portfolios. How much it moves long real yields depends on auction demand, upcoming CPI prints and Treasury issuance plans; it does not by itself imply immediate sovereign spread moves in USD markets.
