Angola LNG begins 32-day shutdown from July 8, cutting exports about 80% and trimming oil output

On July 8, 2026 Angola LNG began a scheduled 32-day full shutdown of its Soyo liquefaction plant, reducing LNG production and loading by roughly 80% and coinciding with Sanha field/FPSO maintenance that cuts oil output by about 48,996 BOPD and will lower near-term export volumes and state revenue collections.

The shutdown directly reduces Angola’s monthly LNG export volumes and, together with the Sanha FPSO suspension, removes a near-term stream of foreign-currency receipts. Absent offsetting price moves, reserve intervention, or alternative cargoes, the interruption tightens near-term external cashflows and could pressure short-term external curve funding and FX liquidity. Resumption is planned after completion of maintenance on August 9, 2026 (phased restart).
